What exactly is inside?

The StarTrace NextGen allows reading identifications, reading and clearing fault codes, reading and writing parameters, printing vehicle status as a PDF, and clearing emissions-related errors. With cloud connectivity, fault analysis can be performed remotely, data can be prepared for fleet overviews, and additional control units can be integrated on demand, offering universality and flexibility.
Identification: View identifications of all detected engine control units (ECUs) in the menu bar under “Identification.” Data can be refreshed at any time using the Refresh button.
Fault Codes: All detected fault memories, sorted by control unit, can be viewed under “Fault Codes.” Environmental data for each fault can be accessed, and fault memories can be cleared using the trash icon. Data can also be refreshed as needed.
Health Report: All retrieved data can be exported as a PDF via the printer icon in the “Identification” or “Fault Memory” menu.
Configuration: Various settings can be adjusted under “Configuration,” including OBD2 pin assignment, CAN bus baud rate, and installed control units.
Software Update: The interface can be updated to meet specific customer requirements, ensuring the tool remains current and compatible.
The interface is compatible with off-highway Mercedes-Benz engines, including OM900, OM934, OM936, OM460, OM470, OM471, and OM473, and supports four control units: CPC (Common Powertrain Controller), MCM (Motor Control Module), ACM (Aftertreatment Control Module), and TCM (Transmission Control Module). This allows professional users to reliably diagnose and manage a variety of vehicle types.
The enclosure is 3D-printed from flame-retardant PC-ABS (polycarbonate-ABS blend) and protects the high-performance electronics based on an ESP32-S3-WROOM-1 microcontroller. Additional features include a micro-SD slot, DC-DC converter (L78S05CV), two CAN transceivers (MCP2551), and a programmable status LED, making the interface compact, robust, and ready for professional use.
